ADC-NJ Congratulates Mohamed Khairullah

For An Immediate Release:

Clifton, New Jersey:  The New Jersey Chapter of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC-NJ) congratulates Mohamed Khairullah for becoming the first Arab American Mayor of Prospect Park, New Jersey.  Mr. Khairullah was first elected as a Councilman in 2001.  Since then, he has worked tirelessly for all the citizens of Prospect Park.

In a special election held on Wednesday, November 9, 2005, the Prospect  Park Town Council, recognizing Mr. Khairullah’s dedication and hard work, voted to elect him from among three candidates to serve the remaining mayoral term of William Kubofcik, who has resigned.  His election victory came despite the recent circulation of anonymous fliers containing bigoted personal attacks which attempted to portray him as a ‘betrayer’ to his country.

ADC-NJ congratulates Mayor Khairullah, thanks Council President Esther Perez for her commitment and leadership, and thanks outgoing Mayor William Kubofcik for his years of service to Prospect Park and to the Arab American community.
