Clifton, NJ | April, 14, 2008 |The Executive board of the New Jersey Chapter of the American-Arab Anti Discrimination Committee (ADC-NJ) takes a great pride in congratulating Mrs. Sherine El-Abd on her latest appointment to the State Advisory committee (SAC) of the US Commission on Civil Rights Sherine El-Abd, First Vice President of the New Jersey Federation of Republican Women and an active member of ADC-NJ has been recently appointed to the New Jersey Advisory Committees (SAC) of the US Commission on Civil Rights. The SAC is composed of citizens familiar with local and state civil rights issues. The members serve without compensation and assist the U.S. Commission with its fact-finding, investigative, and information dissemination functions. Individual members of these committees are recommended by the regional director of their area, approved by the Staff Director, and voted upon at a regular meeting of the Commissioners. Their term of office is 2 years, but they can be reappointed. Appointed by former Governor Christine T. Whitman, Sherine served a five year term as a Civil Rights Commissioner for New Jersey. Sherine also sits on the Board of the Washington, DC based Arab American Institute and is a dedicated and tireless worker for our community.
