Comfort for extremists

Paul Mulshine could not be more wrong in his July 26 column, "Tancredo's MAD plan driving liberals nuts." And the headline is misleading. The comments made by Rep. Tom Tancredo should anger any sane person, Republican or Democrat, liberal or conservative. But obviously they make right-wing extremist wackos happy. Mulshine sees nothing wrong in Tancredo's comment that if one of our cities is destroyed by Islamic fundamentalists with a nuclear bomb, we should destroy Muslim holy cities.
Someone should remind Mulshine, Tancredo and people like them that the holy site in Mecca belongs to all Muslims and not the extremists. Mulshine sees Tancredo's consideration of a run for president in 2008 as good news and expects him to win primaries. Osama bin Laden must hope for more idiotic comments like Tancredo's to help recruit more followers.
