ADC-NJ thanks and congratulates Senator Robert Menendez for agreeing to form an Arab and Muslim Advisory Committee.
Clifton, NJ | August 16, 2007 | -The New Jersey Chapter of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC-NJ)
applauds the efforts of Senator Menendez and his staff in deepening their engagement with the wider community.
The Arab American Democratic Caucus hosted a dinner reception to honor Senator Menendez on Sunday, August 5th @
Sultan’s Restaurant in Clifton, NJ. Four ADC NJ Board Members - Samer Khalaf, Hani Khoury, Hany Mawla and
Salaheddin Mustafa, and a National Board member – Assad Jabarra, were key participants in the events.
The event highlighted the wonderful diversity of our community including religious figures from all denominations,
and leaders of all of the state’s major Arab and Muslim organizations.
At the event Senator Menendez highlighted his important efforts at immigration reform,
protecting civil rights, his long record of fighting against discrimination, and promoting
education and health issues for people from all backgrounds. The Senator also formally
announced the formation of the Arab and Muslim advisory committee. This committee will
focus on issues of importance to the Arab and Muslim community including civil rights,
immigration, education and foreign policy.
“We congratulate Senator Menendez on taking these encouraging steps and very much look
forward to working with him and his staff on the critical issues that confront our community”,
said Salaheddin Mustafa, President of ADC-NJ.
