Political Outreach Committee: Lobbying our local and national elected officials is critical to ensuring that our voices are heard by local New York City, State and national policy-makers and elected officials. Our Government Affairs work has three components: Lobbying our representatives to promote the interests of our community and oppose discriminatory government programs and legislation and to make sure all our area politicians hear regularly from their Arab-American constituents. Voter registration drives, telephone and letter-writing campaigns to encourage members of the Arab American community to get involved in the political process and develop relationships with their elected representatives. Town hall meetings to enable our members to meet elected officials and representatives of government agencies to raise awareness about our concerns, and to discuss policies that impact our community. |
